MISSION

The Louise Nevelson Foundation was established in 2005 to educate the public and celebrate the iconic American artist.  Our mission is threefold: to preserve her artwork, share her personal stories, and to make her artwork more accessible.

We work in two ways:

First, our Catalogue Raisonne Program collects meticulous details of every artwork Louise Nevelson® made.  We include photographs and provenance.  This invaluable tool is needed by museums, collectors, researchers, and auction houses.  We are ramping up our gathering efforts to leave this tremendous and historically significant catalogue raisonne to future generations.

Second, our Oral History Program is one way we educate the public.  We record first-hand accounts from artists, friends, family and colleagues.  Coupled with Maria Nevelson's fresh insights, we bring Louise Nevelson's personal story alive.  And we partner with museums and organizations to find innovative ways to maker her life and art more accessible.
